Return to a Simpler Life

CLORE STATION

Our Story

The Clore Station land has been in the Clore family since 1808, 16 years after Kentucky became a state, and 24 years after Patrick Henry issued the property via land grant to its previous owner. The fields have continually been farmed and a sixth-generation Clore family resides in the 1850 Clore farmhouse today.

In July 1969, the construction of I-71 bisected the farm and created the Crestwood interchange. As Louisville grew eastward, the Clores began changing the trajectory of their agrarian livelihood. There were opportunities to sell the land for commercial and residential development but no project felt right to siblings Lee Clore and Carla Clore Jones. They envisioned the 485 acres evolving into a welcoming community and a safe place for families to walk to the store, drop by a bank, or stop for ice cream, all without the need for a car. They dreamt of the return to a simpler life.

In 2017, the Clores hired world-renowned New Urbanist planners DPZ CoDesign to craft a master plan. The plan emphasizes a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with a diversity of homes, shops, businesses, and parks woven into the property’s lush rolling hills, flowing creeks, stone outcroppings, and dense forests.

Rooted in historical charm, Clore Station will inspire neighbors to savor a small-town feel, surrounded by timeless architecture, Oldham County’s highly-ranked public schools, and easy access to downtown Louisville.
